First harvest of the year

We have harvested the first of our grapes for 2014, with the Chardonnay coming off first! The crop is going to be turned into sparkling wine, which will be exported to Europe.

We had a good crop this year - it wasn't too heavy so it's top quality and totalled 4.5 tonnes. The harvest started a week earlier than last year.

We had 23 pickers to help us get the crop off, which included some locals and some backpackers who are travelling around Australia from many different countries around the world. They came from all over, including Germany, England, France, Mauritius, Italy and the Phillipines!

Our Pinot Noir will be the next to come off - it's a bigger crop so we'll need about 35 pickers and we are expecting about eight tonnes.
